Superstars

SJayz Superstars is a stage school specialising in acting, singing and dance techniques for children aged 3 to 16+.  Our students are confident, motivated, and creative.  Our Superstars get the chance to perform on stage and we teach a wide variety of stage skills including directing and choreography.  We believe in nurturing talent and losing inhibitions to become the best we can be.  Our regular newsletters help to keep you well informed.

The students perform two major shows each year along with some more informal performances. This ensures they build confidence whilst having fun on stage. Our annual awards ceremonies recognise the students’ progression over the prior months with some receiving trophies to mark this progress. Some of the skills your child will learn are below.

Seniors

Our most experienced group of Superstars, Seniors range from 12 to 16+ years old. Classes take place at Skidby Village Hall on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
 
Students cover disciplines such as choreography and technique work; floor and centre solo; duo and group work. Dance styles will include street dance, jazz, salsa, hip hop, show dancing and contemporary ballet. Other areas covered will be cheerleading, hooping and musical theatre routines. We also teach Pilates techniques to develop posture, core stability and balance.
 
In singing, we will develop breathing techniques, posture, projection and diction. W will work on rhythm and extending ranges. There will be fun and contemporary warm-up techniques. We will build repertoires and learn movement and singing techniques. Styles will include pop, rock, soul, classical and musical theatre songs.
 
For acting, students will be helped to build their confidence and lose inhibitions. We encourage creativity in writing scripts and character building. We will learn clarity, diction, accents, directing, movement, learning lines and taking direction.
 

Juniors & Junior Plus

Juniors and Junior Plus Superstars range from age 6 to 11 years old. Classes take place at Skidby Village Hall on Saturdays. The Juniors sessions are for 6 to 8 year-olds running from 9.20am to 10.20 am and Junior Plus is for 9 to 11 year-olds and runs from 10:20am to 12:00 pm.
 

Junior Superstars is a dynamic, fun and inspiring environment. The students will develop skills in dancing, movement techniques, fun floor and group work. There are a variety of dance styles, musical theatre routines, rhythm work, singing and fun warm-up games. We learn about projection, diction, breathing techniques and rhythm work. The students will have fun with a huge range of songs and singing styles.

 

Minis

Mini Superstars is for 3 to 5 year-olds and takes place at Skidby Village Hall on Saturdays from 8.30 am to 9.20 am.
 

Mini Superstars is a fun and nurturing class that covers dancing movement techniques and fun floor and group work. There is a variety of dance styles and musical theatre routines taught. The students will learn about singing and rhythm work. Fun warm-up games will be enjoyed whilst practising projection, diction and breathing techniques. The students will also learn a variety of songs and singing styles.
